How to use this tool

  1. Select JPG, PNG or static WebP images.
  2. Choose quality for JPG or WebP; PNG is optimized without pixel changes.
  3. Review the result and download it before clearing the workspace.

When this tool helps

Use compression when a page, email or upload form needs a smaller file. Start with a clear source and keep the original, so you can compare the text, fine edges and colors after compression.

Choose the right settings

JPG and WebP quality
Lower quality can reduce size at the cost of visible detail. Begin around 80–85%, compare the result at its intended viewing size, then lower the setting gradually if needed.
PNG optimization
Choose PNG output for lossless optimization of a PNG source. It keeps the pixels and transparency. An already efficient PNG may stay the same size.
Compression versus dimensions
A very large photo may benefit more from smaller dimensions. Resize it to the size you need, then compress; do not confuse pixels with file size in bytes.

A practical example

Compare a JPG at two quality settings

  1. Keep the original JPG and create a compressed copy at quality 65%.
  2. Compare the book edges and small details in both versions.
  3. Check the measured file sizes below before deciding which copy to use.

Both illustrations below are 480 × 300 pixels. The sizes are measured from actual tool outputs for this sample; they are not a promised saving for other files.

The same book illustration on a white background.
Original480 × 300 px · JPG8,147 bytes
Book illustration after JPG compression at 65% quality.
Result480 × 300 px · JPG6,113 bytes

These examples use our own test illustration. The checkerboard shows transparent areas; it is not part of the image.

Measured on this example at JPG quality 65%. Your result depends on the original image.

Common mistakes

Compressing the same copy repeatedly
Repeated lossy encoding can add artifacts. Start each attempt from the original instead of compressing an already degraded result.
Chasing a percentage
A small size reduction can be enough. If text becomes hard to read or edges look damaged, raise quality or use PNG for a simple graphic.

Tool limits

Up to 10 MiB and 20 million pixels per image; 20 files and 50 MiB per batch. Static JPG, PNG and WebP only.

Frequently asked questions

Why did the file stay the same size?

If lossless PNG optimization cannot make the file smaller, you receive the original. JPG and WebP quality can change appearance.
