When this tool helps

Split a PDF when you want to share only relevant pages or save separate sections. Keep the original and check every output before sharing it with another person.

Choose the right settings

Ranges and groups
A comma combines pages into one group. A semicolon starts a new output group: 1-2;3-4 creates two files. The displayed selected-page count helps you check the range.
One file per page
Use the separate-every-page option when each page must be its own PDF. This creates more files, so consider the grouped option for chapters or sections.

A practical example

Split a four-page document into two sections

  1. Select a four-page PDF.
  2. Enter 1-2;3-4, with a semicolon between the two groups.
  3. Run the tool and check both PDFs: the first has pages 1 and 2; the second has pages 3 and 4.

You get two PDFs with two pages each. A group such as 3,1 instead places the third page before the first in that output.

Common mistakes

Mixing commas and semicolons
1,2 creates one file containing two pages. 1;2 creates two files containing one page each.
Selecting pages that do not exist
Use page positions within the file. Avoid duplicate pages inside a group and check the selection count before running.

Tool limits

Up to 25 MiB and 100 pages per PDF. Password-protected PDFs are unsupported.

Frequently asked questions

Can the output use a different page order?

Yes. A group such as 3,1 exports page 3 before page 1. A page cannot repeat within one group; review the selected page count.
